Artyom starts a new wave of attacks against the rangers and engages in super thrilling battles and combats and finally relieves the humanity from unlawful and brutal reign of Colonel Miller and the government. Artyom goes AWOL and turns against the Rangers after knowing the truth. Artyom finds the Dark One who turns out to be a child. Colonel Miller thinks of him as a threat and sends Artyom and Anna to eliminate him. Kahn informs Artyom about a single Dark One who survived the recent attack and tells them that the Dark One is the key to the survival of humanity. The story kicks off with protagonist Artyom who is still haunted by the Dark Ones after the events of Metro 2033.
